As World War II rages on, the daily life at Devon school seems unaffected by the world outside itself. Gene, Finny, Brinker, Leper, Bobby and Chet spend their summer session in ignorant bliss. Concerning themselves about the safety of jumping out of trees instead of preparing themselves for their inevitable drafting. As the boys approach coming of age, they must come to terms with the war and growing up. The boys live in a separate peace until tragedy strikes and the boys are snapped into a harsh reality.
